The 2023 Yukon River quest lasted nearly 4 whole days, with paddlers making their way from Whitehorse to Dawson City
YUKON – The 2023 Yukon River Quest is coming to a close today as paddlers continue to filter into Dawson City overnight.
The top 3 teams that finished were the canoe team Golden Lake Crew followed by Planned Grit and the voyageur group, Team 3-2-1 Go.
YRQ Media Correspondent Jeff Brady had a quick recap of what Yukoners can expect to see today.
“We’ll probably have about 20 teams finish before midnight and then a whole host of teams finishing actually through the wee wee hours the final team according to our tracker now the solo canoes Shut Up and Paddle should be here around one o’clock tomorrow to give a close to this great race still only have seven scratches we’ve been doing really good teams have been slowed down by the by the hot weather though”
He went on to provide an in-depth look at those top teams.
“We had our first finisher arrive in Dawson at 5:17 pm on Thursday afternoon that was Golden Light Crew out of Ontario that finished in 46 hours 17 minutes. They were followed by another tandem canoe at the top of the hour at six o’clock Planned Grit. They had overtaken the voyager team Three Two One Go at Coffee Creek.”
