A new round of mediated discussions will have to take place as the Public Service Alliance of Canada, the Yukon Employees Union, and the Yukon Government broke down
YUKON – Negotiations for a new contract with the Yukon government the Yukon Employees Union and the Public Service Alliance of Canada have broken down.
Agreement talks broke down on January 12, 2023 between the PSAC and the Government of Yukon.
As a result, the federally appointed mediator has “closed that the parties have reached a stage where further mediation would not be beneficial at this time,” and so the mediator has concluded this round of discussions.
The two sides were unable to reach an agreement on monetary items sufficient for all members.
The Union team was seeking significant financial improvements for all Yukon Government employees, but the employer team was unprepared to accommodate those requests. The PSAC/YEU team is confident that the government’s monetary mission would be reconsidered by new political leadership.
The Yukon Employees’ Union and the PSAC will contact members soon to discuss future actions.
