Food Insecurity is a growing problem for Yukoners.
The Yukon NDP wants to know what the Yukon government plans to do to soften the effect of food insecurity for residents.
MLA Annie Blake says it’s a big issue for rural residents.
She said “imagine that you live in rural Yukon and need to go grocery shopping. You walk to the local store to find that the food delivery didn’t
arrive. The cost of gas is now over $2 a litre and the nearest grocery store is hundreds of kilometres away.”
Cabinet minister John Streicker says “in our programs that we were doing to support Yukoners around the pressures
of inflation this year, we donated $100,000 to Food Network Yukon to continue to support food security across the territory.”
