Emergency crews responded to smoke and fire coming from a residential apartment building in downtown Whitehorse
WHITEHORSE – Fire crews in Whitehorse responded to a residential fire in the downtown area that closed a portion of 6th Avenue.
On Sunday, October 2, 2022, Wilderness city firefighters responded to the call of smoke and flames at 6:30 p.m coming from the roof of 604 Main Street, adjacent to the United Church on 6th Avenue.
No injuries were reported however, the building was evacuated and residents are not sure as to when they can return to their homes.
Yukon RCMP, EMS and Whitehorse Fire and Protective Services handled the issue on Sunday.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time but, the investigation is still underway.
