The Yukon NDP says they will make prescription contraception free if they form the next Yukon Government.

The Yukon NDP are committing to free contraception for all Yukoners if the NDP form the next Yukon Government. 

NDP Leader Kate White says that providing free and accessible contraception to anyone who needs it is the right thing to do. 

 "This is about doing what's fair. It's about giving people the power over their own reproductive health, and it's about saving people money."

White says people should not make decisions for their health based on cost. 

"The first question you should ask your doctor should never be 'What will it cost?' By making prescription contraception free, we're giving people more, and better options for their health. This will improve health outcomes across the territory. It saves people money, it gives them choices, it saves government money, and it's the right thing to do."

The NDP says that free oral contraceptive pills will save a person $260 per year and as much as $10 thousand dollars in a lifetime.
